We have terrible news to report as Silver King has died today during his match in London. This is a terrible situation and our hearts go out to his fans, family, and friends.
LuchaBlog has been able to confirm that Silver King has passed away after suffering a health issue during his match today. He was only 51-years-old.
A cause of death is unknown at this time, but he was receiving medical attention in the ring.
I can confirm now. I hate this.
Former CMLL/AAA/WCW wrestler Silver King has passed away after suffering a health issue during his match earlier today. He was 51.
This took place at the Lucha Libre London event today. This is an awful situation and we would like to again extend our deepest condolences.
We here at Heel Turn will not use any pictures showing the legend laying in the ring as other sites have and we also will not be showing the final seconds of his life either out of respect to him and his family. This a very tragic thing to happen and while in the ring performing for the fans. We all here at Heel Turn are offering our prayers to the family in this very hard time.
Update: A little more info had come out later. Silver King and Juventud Guerrera were competing at the Roundhouse Theatre in North London. During the contest, Silver King hit Guerrera with a clothesline and covered Guerrera for a two count. However, Silver King did not get off the mat.
Juventud Guerrera and the referee took a long moment to check on him and Silver King did not get up.
Suddenly, a number of other wrestlers hit the ring and they brought out the defibrillator. An ambulance was called and then King was taken to the hospital where he later passed.
Although a cause of death is not known at this time, PW Insider reports that Silver King is believed to have suffered a heart attack. F4WOnline also reports “according to those in the arena, the rest of the show was cancelled.” Therefore Silver King vs Juventud Guerrera was not the main event of the London Lucha Libre World event.
After Silver King would not get up after a two count, Guerrera and the referee talked for a moment and then Guerrera kicked Silver King in the collarbone and pinned him to end the match. At that time wrestlers and emergency staff hit the ring to assist Silver King.
