In an update to this story, The Wrap has since deleted that portion of their report with the following editor’s note: “Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story listed YouTube, Twitter and Facebook as streaming options for the ‘Double or Nothing’ event. Those platforms are for specific pre-show events. TheWrap regrets the error.”
So we’re not sure if Double Or Nothing will be included in this free YouTube deal or not at this point. We will have to wait on an official announcement, but AEW doesn’t seem to be confirming much right now.
As it stands right now the event will be free so it should give many fans a chance to see the big show. It is very interesting that they are going this direction, but AEW might want to prove to people how many fans they can have tune in to watch their product once it finds a television home.
We previously reported that a television deal with Turner is expected to be announced on Wednesday before their advertiser Upfronts at Madison Square Garden.
Tony Khan and wrestlers (although no names were specified) are expected to be in NYC at Madison Square Garden for the pitch to advertisers. The current plan is that the partnership will be officially announced an hour before WarnerMedia’s Upfront presentation.
This is a very big deal for AEW and as we previously reported this could be the reason why a streaming deal in the USA has not been announced yet either.
Reps from Turner have declined to confirm or deny this report.
