What has the world of Pro Wrestling become today? This is the question that everyone is asking right now. This question was first asked way back when during the days of WWF vs WCW. When Eric Bischoff and WCW started making waves in the Wrestling World a certain someone had taken a step back and said " wait a min what the hell is going on" Birth of the Attitude Era and WCW beating WWF in ratings begins.
We all sat back, buckled our seat belts and rode along the journey from Mid 1996-2002. This became the Monday Night Wars. This was the exciting time in Pro Wrestling on tv and even at live events. On Sept 4th 1995 WCW Monday Night Nitro debuted, running unopposed to WWE Monday Night Raw because of the pre-emption of Raw. When Nitro came on air Lex Luger (who had been in the WWF since 1993) came walking out at the start of the show during Sting vs Ric Flair. Because Nitro was live at the time, Also, Luger had just come off a moderately successful run in the WWF, and was at one time one of the company's top stars. Finally, because Luger had been employed with the WWF as recently as a week before his Nitro appearance (he had, in fact, wrestled on a house show for the WWF in Halifax, Nova Scotia the night before his appearance on Nitro) WCW fans would be intrigued to see others possibly "jump ship". The Monday Night Wars had now officially begun.
Memorial day 1996 Scott Hall who at the time was working for WWE as Razor Ramon showed up on Nitro and interrupted a match with the most famous words in the Wrestling World at the time. " You want a WAR " " You people know who I am, but you don't know why I'm here " saying that him and 2 of his partners were coming and they were taking over. Weeks later his close and personal friend Man #2 showed up and it was none other than Kevin Nash ( Big Daddy Cool Diesel. saying " So this is where the BIG Boys play, well we didn't come here to play " " The measuring stick just got bigger around here and your looking at it "
At Bash at the Beach 1996 the world of Pro Wrestling Changed forever. In the biggest slap to the face of the fans and the SWERVE EVER in history Hulk Hogan would turn out to be the #3 man and the NWO WAS CREATED. We all know that the NWO ruled WCW and killed WWF in the ratings for a long time. We all know what happened to WCW as a HUGE result of the contracts for all the former WWF guys coming in and the fact that the company was drowning at the hands of Bischoff and others in the main office and nothing was saving it. The end of WCW happened the same way Monday Night Nitro started with Ric Flair vs Sting, but with the story line of Shane McMahon buying WCW and going against his dad. Well we all know what really happened there too........ Lets move on to the reason for this.
2019 WWE is the big man swinging the stick in the Pro Wrestling world until now. On Jan 8th 2019 the landscape as they say in Pro Wrestling has changed once a again and I feel that WWE will be scrambling to maintain once again. Cody Rhodes, Matt and Nick Jackson held a press conference in Jacksonville Florida and announced what could possibly the best thing for Pro Wrestling at this moment in time. All Elite Wrestling has begun. With a roster already stacked up including former WWE superstars Chris Jericho and Neville along with some other very familiar faces this is the shot we all needed to see happen.
Now I will not go on and give any comparisons between WCW and AEW well frankly because there really isn't any in my eyes except the fact that AEW will be a HUGE thorn in Vince's side very very soon. Each day more and more information is coming to us about AEW and it just keeps getting bigger and better. I for one am very excited to see what happens. All IN was HUGE and it made Vince and HHH sit down and watch. Could this company actually knock down WWE a few steps of the ladder. I mean we all know and have been watching as the ratings have started to fall way down for RAW. House shows aren't really doing that well either.
WWE has started to suffer once Cena left for Hollywood, Roman's cancer came back, Braun was injured as so many other issues. WWE has a grueling schedule that would knock anybody in the dirt. These men and women get paid to beat their bodies up 288- 330 days days a year. Injuries have really became a problem with in the last 2 years. Bringing in of Rousey really hasn't helped either. Raw ratings dropping, Smack Down holding, 205 is the 1st year XFL, NXT is the thing of WWE and now NXT UK. How can WWE main roster hold up to AEW they can't and won't.
NXT is the only thing that will save WWE from complete crumbling at the feet of AEW. Now I'm not saying I want this to happen at all, but I'm ready for more and different Pro Wrestling shows on TV. ROH has been able to do it lately, my area can't watch Ring Warriors, Lucha Underground is at a stand still, we as fans need WWE vs AEW and it needs to start soon.
