Welcome to my first blog, I’m your First Lady of Heel Turn, Sandra, and a huge Bella Mark – I also have a soft spot for my man Samoa Joe.
I’ve got a heel face apparently, and love my local Australian wrestling as well as my weekly WWE Raw and Smackdown. I love the sound of a slap landing and an amped up audience bursting into a chorus of “HOLY SHIT!”.
This year I’ll be blogging and partnering with Alcoholic Adam, to bring you a little project we have been working on titled Cold Hard Truth. Adam and I are super marks like you guys, so if you want us to cover anything sound out in the comments or contact us via the page.
As I said, I am a Bellas fan and with all the outrage at the moment over their Hall of Fame induction, I sat back and thought these people need to see they truly deserve their place. So here goes… I may convince you, I may not, but have a read and you’ll see these two pulled a Bella Buster *see what I did there* on breaking through the barriers facing the women’s division and bringing it to the forefront, where we have seen the likes of Becky Two Belts dominating and headlining.
I’ve listed Nikki and Brie’s major career highlights to show you these two did achieve some amazing things.
Do I think there are more worthy inductees out there? sure, but there is no disputing just how much The Bellas have done for women’s wrestling. Is it a little soon? Perhaps yes, this seems to be the sentiment amongst my wrestling group of friends anyway, but let’s face it these two deserve it, plus it also ties in nicely with them retiring earlier this year in March.
We are talking about two Divas Champions, with twin Nikki going on to hold the title twice, and being the longest reigning divas champion from 2014-2015 (talk about some Twin Magic). For me, and feel free to disagree with me, I feel that the Bellas essentially were a major catalyst for the evolution of the Diva/women’s division, here we had two twins who were marketable and let’s face it, all the mark boys loved, eventually forming Team Bella with Alicia Fox during their feud with Paige, and it becoming one of the most well known women’s teams in the WWE.
On sheer technique, these two were not as talented as say Bret Hart, but holy shit did they work hard at what they did- wherein September 2018 on Raw, we saw The Bella Twins compete and defeat The Riott Squad in a comeback years in the making.
At the end of the day maybe I see these two through rose coloured glasses, but as fans, I think we are all guilty of it when it comes to our favourite wrestlers. So rather than being salty about their induction, if you are that displeased pull an Elsa and “let it go” or else maybe this First Lady of Heel may get all fearless on you and take you down with a Rack Attack 2.0.
Thanks for reading till next time Stay Heel.
